Memory Foam was originally developed in 1966 under a NASA contract. It's original purpose was to improve the safety in aircrafts. Memory foam reacts to tempature. When it is cold, it remains hard and stiff, but when exposed to heat the foam becomes softer and melds to the shape of the heat. This unique property is what makes memory foam slippers so comfortable!
When purchasing, make sure the memory foam portion of the slippers is thick enough that when you're full body weight is resting on the memory foam, it does not sink all the way down. If you do sink all the way down, you lose the comfort factor. Find a slipper that has dense memory foam. Higher density means it's higher quality. Tempur-Pedic manufacutres a line of memory foam slippers that cost around $50. They may seem expensive, but they are one of the higher quality slippers around. A lot of people buy the cheaper products and then they find that their slippers are so cheap because the materials are all low quality. This results in a pair of slippers that simply don't work. Acorn also makes some slippers featuring Memory Foam. It's recommended that you try on several pairs before making your purchase.

I like them because they are not only comfortable, you can wear them inside, or outside to the mailbox. And they are washable!
